Tansy Haak KIND Profile

How did you get in to yoga?

I started practicing yoga about 5 years ago and instantly connected to  it both spiritually and physically. I remember at the end of my first  classes lying in Savasana and thinking how incredible it was to feel  all that positive energy buzzing through my body. It has been a huge  part of my life ever since and I now I couldn't live with out it.

How has yoga changed you?

In General my yoga practice has made me appreciate the importance of  taking time to concentrate on myself, to slow things down and care for  every element of my body and mind. More specifically, last year my  husband and I took some time out to travel through Europe, India & Sri  Lanka by bicycle. The first months through the Pyrenees and Northern  Italy were seriously tough and my yoga practice helped me to push  through so many barriers by focusing my mind and my breath. That kind  of experience goes to show just how incredibly capable we can be if we  put our minds to it.

What is your favourite thing about being a part of the team at Yoga West?

I run my own ethical jewellery line (http://www.kindjewellery.com/)  from home which although amazing at times can be overwhelming and  often lonely. Working at Yoga West along side this gives me a chance  to take myself away and immerse myself in another world full of  energy! At the studio I am surrounded by awesome & inspiring people  and in an environment where I can continue to develop my own practice.  I find that the two complement each other perfectly and being part of  the Yoga west studio benefits KIND Jewellery by giving me the chance  to take a step back, clear my mind and go back fresh headed and  motivated. Ultimately I would love to train as a yoga teacher so I  couldn't be in a better place right now.

What is your favourite yoga pose and why?

Fallen Triangle & Full Moon pose are favourites of mine as it is when  I feel a perfect balance between strength and relaxation - reaching  out in all directions makes me feel absolutely centred. I also adore  Reclined Goddess for connecting everything back to the earth and  letting my mind calm.

What is your power song?

You've Got the Love - Florence + the Machine -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQZhN65vq9E

What advice would you give to people who are considering taking up yoga?

Try not to compare your practice to others, we are all totally unique  and what feels good for someone else might not feel right for you.  Start at the beginning, go at your own pace and most importantly  listen to your body and ENJOY! You won't regret it!

Do you have a favourite yoga quote?

Get rid of the things that are not needed to make space for the things  that are.
