Firstly thanks to Tessa Stuart who was the unlikely catalyst for my 20-day CBD trial. Thank you Tessa!

We stock LOVE CBD at the studio, which costs £19 a bottle. We did a lot of research on the possible benefits and the potential suppliers before deciding to stock CBD and stock this brand, however, I personally did not trial the product.

Perhaps you don’t know what CBD oil is. CBD (cannabidiol) is an ingredient naturally sourced from hemp plants that are bred for nutritional purposes. The CBD is primarily extracted from hemp paste, made from the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant, with hemp seeds as a secondary source. It is different from marijuana. It isn’t addictive nor does it make you high.

According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

I started a 20-day trial at the beginning of the month. I then stopped taking it for 7 days. The CBD had a noticeable effect on me. I became more present, responding rather than reacting, calmer, more lucid and more decisive and instinctive. This feeling was more pronounced initially and became a more general afterwards.

I did a bit of trawling for the medical research on the benefits of CBD. There are some far-fetched claims but this quote from the Harvard Health Publishing arm of Harvard Medical School summarised the research pretty well.

“We need more research, but CBD may be prove to be an option for managing anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. “

If you’re thinking of starting to take CBD you can pick up bottle of love CBD for £19 at Yoga West. After a month I have used less than 10% of the bottle so I expect it will last me up to a year.

One warning before you start using CBD. CBD can interfere with the effect of numerous prescription drugs so talk to a doctor first if you have a regular prescription.

If you do start taking CBD please let me know how it’s going!

I hope you try it.
